groundpawGroundbreaking Ceremony

It was Wonderful! see the story in The Salisbury Post!

Yes, it's really happening! The site has been graded, the concrete footings have been poured... and the site has been blessed. At the ground-greaking ceremony on July 10, Dr. Albert Aymer, President of Hood Theological Seminary, gave a very moving blessing for our new sanctuary. President Mary Padavick, founder Anne Ingram, and Building Committee Chair Mary Ann Pool spoke to the family of friends who were on hand.

Rescue dog Hope was the official mover of dirt for the sanctuary, assisted by Padavick, Ingram, land donor David Clark, architect Jon Palmer, and Summit Devoloper Project Manager Thomas Simmerson. Construction is scheduled for completion by March, 2011.

Thank you to all the folks who worked hard to get us to this day!

About Hope
Hope was lying on the median of I85 near Salisbury when passing driver, Lea Rhodes, saw her. This good samaritan called Rowan County Animal Control and waited with Hope in the freezing rain until they came. The Humane Society of Rowan County paid for treatment for Hope's two broken hips and badly injured mouth, and Faithful Friends provided the foster home and care Hope needed until her forever home came the day that Don and Carol Turner of Wilmington adopted her. Hope is a symbol of the spirit that binds us all together to make the world a better place

It’s Summit!
Faithful Friends is proud to announce that Summit Developers in Salisbury has been chosen to build Rowan County first no-kill animal sanctuary. Grading at the site has already started, and the building will be completed by February, 2011.

pawPuppy Naming Event -  1 more to go!

momma
At the end of March FFAS took in a very pregnant dog that was dumped on an abandoned farm with a bucket of water and bag of food to fend for themselves.  A few days later, Madonna gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies, with only 7 surviving.  That's where you can come to their rescue as an angel - please consider making a tax deductible donation to assist in vet care for this family.  With a minimum donation of $100 you can choose a name for one of these cute pups - what a great way to honor or memorialize your past or present fur-children!  But hurry only 4 pups are left to be named - we have received naming rights on 3 of our pups so far (Caesar, Harley & one name pending) If you are interested in naming on of these cute pups, please contact Shannon Moore at ffvolunteerchair@yahoo.com as soon as possible.

The Rescuers Creed

I promise I will take unwanted animals.
I will heal their wounds, their diseases, their broken bones.
I will give them the medical attention they need and deserve.
I will nurture their starvation, and give them a warm place to sleep.
I will spay and neuter them, and vaccinate them against the diseases that can harm them.
I will treat them and honor them. I will buy them toys, blankets, balls, and teach them to play.
I will speak softly to them. I will try to teach them not to fear, not to cry, not to fear, and not to hate.
I will whisper sweet, kind, gentle words into their ears, while gently trying to stroke their fear, their pain, and
their scars away.
I will face their emotional scars and give them time to overcome them.
I will socialize them, potty train them, teach them to be obedient, show them dignity, and hold their paws, and
stroke their ears if they have endured too much, and walk them over the Rainbow Bridge.
But most of all , I will teach them Love.
